Quinton de Kock: News

It is not easy for any cricketer to be compared to the greats of yesteryears. Some thrive in such comparisons while others falter. Quinton de Kock belongs in the former category. From a protege to one of the best players in the world, De Kock’s rise has been consistent and calculated. De Kock first made headlines during his stint with the South Africa U-19 team. In the 2012 World Cup, he was the highest scorer for South Africa. This coupled with his performance for the Highveld Lions in the 2012 Champions League T20 made him someone to keep an eye on. He soon made his international debut in a T20I against New Zealand in 2012. A left-handed batsman/wicket-keeper, De Kock hit his strides in 2013. In a 3-match series against India, he became the fifth player to score three consecutive centuries in ODIs. His Test debut came against Australia in 2014. He came to his own in Test cricket in 2016 when a touring South Africa side beat Australia in a series. His counter-attacking style is reminiscent of legendary Australian wicket-keeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist.
