His tally of 211 runs in Galle is only behind New Zealand's Stephen Fleming (274 in Colombo, 2003 & 252 in Colombo, 1998) and Bangladesh's Mohammad Ashraful (212 in Galle, 2013) among visiting number-three batters with the most runs in a Test on Sri Lankan soil.
Notably, Padikkal had played just two Tests before featuring in the ongoing affair, scoring 90 runs with the help of a fifty.

Jurel also made a mark in India's first innings, scoring 51 off 68 balls (4 fours and 1 six) - his second half-century in the format

Jayasuriya

Asitha Fernando was the pick of the fast bowlers in the game, claiming 2/63 and 4/31 in his first and second outings, respectively.

Star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj claimed one wicket each in both his outings (1/29 & 1/15).
With his first scalp, the star pacer became the 12th Indian to complete 100 Test wickets in away (home of opposition) Tests.
Across 27 Tests in this regard, Siraj has completed 101 at an average of 29.43.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also bowled two fine spells in the game (3/57 & 1/71).

Rishabh Pant, the explosive wicketkeeper-batter, became the first Indian and fourth batter overall to complete 100 sixes in Test cricket.
While he cleared the ropes once en route to his 39 in India's first innings, Pant completed the century of sixes with his second and final maximum in the third innings. He scored 66 off 69 balls.
Having taken just 51 games and 89 innings, Pant became the fastest batter to complete 100 Test sixes.

Pant has also been a prolific run-scorer for India, amassing over 3,662 runs at an average of 43.59. His eight centuries speak volumes about his ability to anchor innings despite the challenges of the format. The one in Galle was his 20th fifty.
Suthar
Suthar claims match 10-fer
With figures worth 4/76 and 6/55, Suthar became just the third Indian with a match 10-fer on Sri Lankan soil.
Suthar gave another impressive performance after shining against Afghanistan on his Test debut earlier this year.
The left-arm spinner took 6/33 and finished with match figures of 7/62. In just four Test innings, Suthar has 17 wickets at an average of 11.35.
De Silva
De Silva slams his 14th 50-plus score (home Tests)
Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva scored a fighting 59 off 151 balls in the fourth innings (seven fours).
The veteran batter now has a hundred and a fifty across 10 innings against India (262 runs at 29.11).
Overall, he has now completed 4,400 Test runs at 39.28 (100s: 13, 50s: 20).
This was his eighth fifty across 31 home Tests, as the tally also includes six tons.
