Jayant Sinha is an Indian politician who is serving as the Chairperson for the Standing Committee on Finance, as of 2021. He is a member of the Indian Parliament and has served as the Minister of State for Finance and the Minister of State for Civil Aviation in the Indian government. He had also served as a management consultant and investment fund manager. Sinha has worked with McKinsey & Company as a partner for twelve years and has also partnered with Omidyar Network. He has also worked as a Managing Director at Courage Capital for several years. Since the 1990s, Sinha used to participate in policy-making and politics and used to provide policy inputs to his father Yashwant Sinha who was the former Finance Minister under Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Sinha had also served as the Principal author of the Mckinsey-Nasscom industry reports in 2000 and 2005. He had worked on various projects in Ramgarh and Hazaribagh districts. He had also worked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2014 election campaign to help frame the national economic policy. Sinha has helped to prepare the Union Budgets for 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.
