Born on December 24, 1966, in Gujarat Asit Kumarr Modi aka Asit Modi is a well-known actor, director, and producer. He came into the national spotlight after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi named him and his team of ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ amongst the first citizens nominated for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign. Modi studied in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel School in Mumbai. He completed his graduation in commerce from Shri Chinai College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. An avid theater fan, Modi’s career in theater was multi-faceted. Actor, assistant director, and technician - he has done it all. After working in theater, Modi switched his focus to TV. He worked on the production and marketing side of things on several Gujarati shows before founding his own production company Neela Tele Films Private Limited in 1995. ‘Hum Sab Ek Hain’ in 1998 was the first show made by the company. In 2008, he created ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ based on the weekly column by Taarak Mehta in Gujarati magazine Chitralekha. In 2016, it won the Indian Television Academy Award for Best Comedy Serial.
