Kapil Mishra: News

Kapil Mishra is a social activist and politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a former minister in the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government. Mishra has worked as a social activist independently, as well as, with organizations like Greenpeace and Amnesty International. He was one of the co-founders of the Delhi­-based group, Youth for Justice. Mishra has led various youth agitations and protests on issues such as the Yamuna River bed encroachment, the Jessica Lal murder case, and farmer suicides, among others. He was one of those people who spoke against the Commonwealth Games 2010, held in the National Capital, and the related corruption cases. In his book, ‘It’s Common v/s Wealth’, Mishra alleged that in the name of the sporting event, serious offenses from scams to environmental destruction were being carried out. He also took part in the anti-corruption movement in the early 2010s and joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2013. Mishra contested and won from Karawal Nagar in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, serving as the Minister for Water Resource Management in Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s cabinet from 2015 to 2017. In August 2019, Mishra joined the BJP.
