West Indies cricketer Evin Lewis modeled his batting after Chris Gayle, and like his idol, Lewis is also known for sending the ball over the boundary line. Hailing from Trinidad and Tobago, he rose into prominence during his U-19 playing days. However, it was his performance during the 2013 Champions League T20 that put him on the map. Following this up with head-turning innings in the Caribbean Premier League and Bangladesh Premier League earned him his first national team call-up. Lewis made his international debut in the 2016 World T20 against Afghanistan. Later that year, he made his ODI debut against Pakistan. His maiden T20I century came against India in his second T20I. In 2017, he scored another T20I century and became only the third batsman to score multiple centuries in T20Is. His maiden ODI ton came against Pakistan. Yet to play a Test match for West Indies, Lewis has established himself as an opener for the team in ODIs and T20Is. In 2021, he scored his 1,000th run in T20I cricket.
