Articles about Tejashwai Yadav

Tejashwi Yadav is a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) politician and member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He is the younger son of party patriarch and former Bihar Chief Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav. Since his days in school, Yadav was a cricket enthusiast and went on to play for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL) between 2008 and 2012. He was also a part of the Jharkhand cricket team in the Ranji Trophy. After a brief career in cricket, Yadav joined his father’s political party, RJD. In the 2015 Bihar assembly elections, he won from the Raghopur constituency, defeating Satish Kumar Yadav of the BJP. Yadav served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar in the JDU-RJD-INC government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar from 2015 to 2017. After JDU broke off the alliance and joined the NDA, Yadav became the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly. In the 2020 elections, he was the Chief Ministerial candidate from RJD, but failed to lead his party to victory. Having retained his seat in the state polls, Yadav continues to be the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar.
