Tej Pratap Yadav is a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) politician and member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He is the elder son of former Bihar Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. Yadav is educated till the intermediate level. He owns an automobile showroom, acres of land, and used to own a petrol pump till its license was terminated due to discrepancies. BJP, in the past, has targeted Yadav over his assets, some of which is claimed to have been dubiously obtained or hidden in the election affidavit. Yadav contested elections for the first time in the 2015 Bihar Assembly polls from Mahua constituency and won. During the JDU-RJD-INC grand alliance government in Bihar from 2015 to 2017, he served as the Minister for Health and Environment in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Cabinet. In the 2020 Bihar elections, Yadav won from the Hasanpur constituency, defeating JDU’s incumbent MLA, Raj Kumar Ray. Yadav has often attracted attention, with pictures of him dressed up as Hindu Gods, such as Lord Krishna and Shiva, doing the rounds on social media.
