Kieron Pollard: News

Tall and bulky, when West Indies cricketer Keiron Pollard walks into the crease, there is an eerie sense of impending implosion among the spectators and a fear of the unknown in the opposition. There is no one who symbolizes the effect of T20 on modern-day cricket like this Trinidadian. When he declined the central contract from West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to play franchise cricket worldwide, it turned heads, but he knew what he was doing. His exploits in T20 leagues around the world are a testament to that knowledge. A right-handed batsman with an ability to surprise the batsmen with variations in his medium-pace bowling, Pollard came into the limelight when he thrashed New South Wales in the 2009 Champions League. Pollard had made his international debut much before that in 2007 in ODIs and 2008 in T20Is. His international records were nothing out of the ordinary when the Mumbai Indians shelled out the highest limit of $750,000 in the 2010 IPL auction. However, his contributions to Mumbai Indians' five championships are proof of Pollard's ability to come alive when needed. One of the best fielders in the world, Pollard is also only the third player to hit six sixes in international cricket.
