A recipient of numerous National Film Awards and the father of Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, Pankaj Kapur is an Indian film, theater, and television actor. In his childhood, he was always intrigued by the entertainment industry. Hence he attended the National School of Drama (NSD) to turn his passion into a career. After graduating from NSD, Kapur became a part of different theater groups for four years and worked in a lot of plays such as 'Mohandas B.A.L.L.B.' and 'Albert's Bridge', among others. He made his film debut with Shyam Benegal's 'Arohan' (1982). The 1982 film 'Gandhi' highlighted him in the mainstream film industry, followed by 'Mandi', 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro', 'Khamosh', and many more over the next few years. In 1989, he received his first National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in the movie 'Raakh'. He started appearing on television from 1986 onwards and gained fame from his comic roles. He will be next seen in the upcoming 2021 movie 'Jersey', in which he plays the role of a coach.
