One of the best batsmen at the top of the order in the modern game, Jason Roy epitomizes the change that English cricket went through after their disastrous campaign in the 2015 World Cup. A clean striker of the ball, Roy's partnership with Johnny Bairstow has been the face of a new and aggressive English team that won the 2019 World Cup. Born in South Africa, he made his debut in the domestic circuit for Surrey in the Twenty20 Cup in 2008. His first-class debut came in 2010. Roy's international debut came in the backdrop of an impressive season in the 2014 NatWest T20 Blast where he finished as the top scorer. He played his first international match against India in a T20I in 2014. Roy's ODI debut came in 2015 against Ireland. After a great start to his career, he faced some issues in 2017, but he bounced back in style and hasn't looked back since. Roy holds the record for the highest score by an English player in ODI after scoring 180 against Australia in the MCG in a 2017-18 series.
