Soni Razdan, also known as Soni Bhatt, born on October 25, 1956, is a British film actress and director working in the Hindi film industry. She is married to Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt and is the mother of leading actress Alia Bhatt. She started her acting career in English theater with John Fowles's 'The Collector' and her Hindi stage career with 'Bund Darvaze', which was Satyadev Dubey's adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre's 'No Exit'. Razdan is known for her role as Sulochana in the highly successful Doordarshan television series called 'Buniyaad'. Other Indian TV serials she has acted in include' Gaatha' and 'Saahil'. Some of her notable films include her debut movie '36 Chowringhee Lane', 'Mandi', 'Saaransh', 'Shootout at Wadala', 'Raazi', 'War', and 'Sardar Ka Grandson'. She ventured into directing in 2002 with 'Aur Phir Ek Din' on Star Plus, which was a take-off on 'One Fine Day' (1996) starring George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer. She also directed a film called 'Love Affair', which is yet to be released.
