Brett Lee: News

One of the greatest fast bowlers to ever grace the cricket field, Brett Lee was famous for his searing pace and meticulous bowling action. Lee debuted in first-class cricket in 1997 for New South Wales. His impressive performances in the Sheffield Shield earned him a spot in the Australian Test team. He made his Test debut against India in 1999 and took five wickets on his debut. His success in Tests translated into the ODI format as well. Between the period from 2000 to 2009, only Muttiah Muralitharan took more wickets than Lee in ODI. Lee was part of Australia's successful World Cup campaigns in 2003 and 2007. In 2003, he was the second-highest wicket-taker. Being as fast as Lee meant that he was injury-prone as well. He called it quits from Test cricket in 2008 after taking 310 wickets. In 2012, he retired from ODI cricket as well, with 380 scalps to his name. He continued playing domestic T20 tournaments around the world, mainly the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Big Bash League (BBL), before calling it quits in 2015 from all formats of the game.
