Articles about Glenn McGrath
One of the greatest fast bowlers to ever play the game, former Australian cricketer Glenn Mcgrath began his international career in 1993, replacing Merv Hughes. At the time, he only had eight first-class appearances under his belt. For McGrath, however, it did not take much time to elevate himself as the leader of the Australian bowling lineup. An unwavering outside off-stump line coupled with precise length was his MO. Facing McGrath was a test of temperament for any batsman, and more often than not, the "Pigeon" came out on top. Any Australian bowler's success is measured against using the Ashes yardstick. And, McGrath had 10 of his 29 five-wicket hauls against their arch-rival. With 563 wickets in Test cricket and 381 wickets in ODIs, he was not one to be pulled down by injuries or personal problems. Every time people wrote him off, he came back stronger. A three-time World Cup winner with the Aussies, McGrath is also the leading wicket-taker in World Cup history. For a bowler with the penchant for big days, McGrath brought the curtain down on his career with the 2007 World Cup win and finishing as the Player of the Tournament.
