Articles about Fitbit

Fitbit is an American consumer electronics and fitness company headquartered in California. The company was founded in March 2007 in Delaware, USA by James Park and Eric Friedman. Today they serve as the company's CEO and CTO respectively. For a while, Fitbit was the world leader in wearable technology. It claims to have sold over 100 million devices that cater to 28 million users. The company's IPO offered in May 2015 was filed for $358 million. Now, the company has transitioned its vision to become a "digital healthcare company". Of late, Fitbit has been facing increased competition from affordable wearable devices with similar feature sets manufactured by the likes of Xiaomi and Apple. The company is now owned by Google after the search giant acquired it for $2.1 billion in 2019. The acquisition was completed in January 2021 following the long-drawn process of regulatory approvals. Fitbit shareholders overwhelmingly approved of Google’s move to acquire the company.
