A tall, powerful batsman from Jamaica, Andre Russell was one of the bright prospects of West Indies cricket. Making his first-class debut at the age of 19, Russell shot into fame in a match for West Indies A against Ireland. This propelled him to the West Indies senior squad for the 2011 ICC World Cup. In that World Cup, his standout performance was against eventual champions India. His ability to play match-winning knocks was on display against various oppositions. Handy with the ball as well, Russell provided a ray of hope for rebuilding the West Indies squad. However, like many of the players of the modern era, lack of consistency remained a curse for Russell. His talent with the bat and ball, along with his ability to be a reliable match winner was in high demand in T20 leagues around the world. In the inaugural Caribbean Premier League (CPL), he scored 203 runs at a strike rate of 189.71. Similarly, he has been a regular on the team sheet for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Russell is the only bowler to take four wickets in four balls in T20 cricket.
