Sachin Pilot is an Indian National Congress (INC) politician and a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from Tonk. He is the son of the late Congress leader, Rajesh Pilot. He did his graduation from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, and completed his MBA from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He successfully contested in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from the Dausa constituency, becoming the youngest MP at 26 at the time. In the 2009 General Elections, he contested from the constituency of Ajmer and won, defeating BJP’s Kiran Maheshwari. Pilot served as Minister of State (MoS) for Communications & Information Technology (2009-12) and Corporate Affairs (2012-14) in the Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. In the 2014 General Elections, Pilot lost from Ajmer to BJP’s Sanwar Lal Jat. The same year, he was appointed as the chief of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) after the party had suffered defeat in the 2013 Rajasthan Assembly elections. Working at the grassroots level, Pilot strengthened his party in the state and led it to victory in the 2018 elections, defeating the BJP. He became the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan but was sacked from the post in 2020 for alleged anti-party activities.
