Aanand L. Rai: News
Aanand L Rai is an Indian film director and producer born on June 28, 1971. Before venturing into filmmaking, he worked as an engineer, being a graduate in computer science engineering. His professional film career started when Rai decided to assist his elder brother, television director Ravi Rai, in several television series. He made his directorial debut in 2007 with the psychological thriller called ‘Strangers’, starring Jimmy Shergill and Kay Kay Menon, based on the 1951 Hitchcock movie ‘Strangers on a Train’. He rose to prominence and achieved recognition with 2011 romantic- comedy-drama hit film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ starring R Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut. Rai’s 2015 movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu: Returns’ received critical acclaim along with box office success. Some of his other well-known films include the 2013 movie ‘Raanjhanaa’ and the 2018 Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Zero, among others. His romantic comedy film ‘Raanjhaana’ paved the way for the leading Tamil actor Dhanush’s Bollywood debut.
