Rani Mukerji: News
One of the highest-paid actresses of the 2000s, Rani Mukerji, has appeared in more than 50 movies so far in her career spanning over 25 years in Bollywood. Born in Kolkata, she belongs to a family that had an industry background. However, she was not always intrigued by a career in the entertainment industry. In 1994, she received an offer from director Salim Khan to play the lead role in his movie 'Aa Gale Lag Jaa'. Due to her father's disapproval, she rejected the offer. Later, she made her Bollywood debut with a lead role in 'Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat', which failed at the box office. In 1998, 'Ghulam' became her first commercial success on the big screen. In the following months, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' became the top-grossing film that year and helped her bag the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Mukerji's 'Hey Ram' became India's official entry to the Oscars in 2000. In the early 2000s, she began collaborating with Yash Raj Films and became an established actress with multiple releases every year. She also starred in the much acclaimed 'Veer Zaara', which became the highest-grossing film of 2004. Mukerji was last seen in 'Mardaani 2' in 2019 and will be next reprising her role in the sequel to the 2005 film 'Bunty Aur Babli'.
