Headquartered in Cary, North Carolina, Epic Games is a video game and software developer and publisher. Originally known as Potomac Computer Systems, the company was established in 1991 by Tim Sweeney. The name was changed to Epic Games a year later, and the headquarters were also shifted from Potomac, Maryland, US to Cary. The company is the creator of games like Fortnite, Battle Breakers, Unreal, Gears of War, Shadow Complex, and the Infinity Blade series of games. Through its Unreal Engine, a commercially available game engine, it brings interactive experiences to PC, console, mobile, AR, VR, and the Web. For this, Guinness World Records named it the “most successful video game engine.” The company has three offices in Asia: Shanghai (China), Yokohama (Japan) and Seoul (South Korea).
