Michael Clarke: News

Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke was born on April 2, 1981. Clarke is considered to be one of the finest batsmen of his generation. Clarke, who was the first Twenty20 captain for Australia, was nicknamed ‘Pup.’ The right-handed middle-order batsman is also a slip catcher and has represented New South Wales at a domestic level. In order to focus on his ODI and Test performance, Clarke, in 2011, stepped down as the captain of the Twenty20 Australian cricket team. Before Clarke’s retirement from One Day cricket after the end of the 2015 Cricket World Cup, he put up a powerful performance in the final against New Zealand and scored 74 runs off 72 balls to lead Australia to their fifth World Cup title. Later, after the final Test of the 2015 Ashes series, Clarke, on August 8, 2015, retired from all forms of cricket. He is now a cricket commentator.
