Famous for her role of Babita Kumari in Dangal, Sanya Malhotra is one of the most successful new-age actresses of Hindi cinema. After graduating from Gargi College, Delhi University, she first appeared in the 'Dance India Dance' reality show. After working as an assistant in television commercials, Malhotra was contacted by film director Mukesh Chhabra. She gained immense recognition after the release of the biographical sports film 'Dangal' (2016), where she played the role of wrestler Babita Kumari. Malhotra underwent rigorous training and multiple rounds of audition for the film, which became the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of all time. She later turned choreographer for the song 'Sexy Baliye' from 'Secret Superstar' (2017) featuring Aamir Khan. In 2018, she appeared in 'Pataakha'. The release of 'Badhaai Ho'(2018) changed Malhotra's career drastically. The actress gained international recognition with the 2019 movie 'Photograph' alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Her next three movies 'Shakuntala Devi', 'Ludo', and 'Pagglait' got an OTT release due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
