Subhash Ghai is an Indian film producer, director, and screenwriter born on January 24, 1945. He started his career in the Hindi film industry as an actor playing small roles in films like 'Taqdeer' (1967) and 'Aradhana' (1969). His directorial debut came with the 1976 film 'Kalicharan'. Some of his notable directorial ventures include 'Meri Jung', 'Black & White', 'Taal', 'Khalnayak', 'Karz', 'Hero', 'Vidhaata', 'Karma', 'Pardes', and 'Maeri'. In 2006, Ghai won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues for producing the 2005 film 'Iqbal'. Also, he founded the Whistling Woods International film and media institute in Mumbai in 2006. Some of the films he has produced include 'Aitraaz', '36 China Town', and 'Apna Sapna Money Money', among others. In 2015, he was awarded the IIFA Award for Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema. Ghai also serves on the Board of Advisors of India's International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN).
